🚨 Miguel Almirón departs Newcastle for MLS return

Newcastle have announced the sale of Miguel Almirón, who has left to rejoin Atlanta United.

The Magpies signed the Paraguayan from The Five Stripes in 2019 and he now returns to his former club after six years on Tyneside.

Almirón has signed a four-and-a-half year deal with Atlanta and joins for a reported fee of £9.5m.

The 30-year-old leaves St James’ Park as a firm fan favourite, making over 220 appearances for the club, scoring 30 goals and providing 12 assists.

In his previous spell in Georgia, Almirón was a two-time MLS All-Star and an MLS Cup winner.
