Georgia and Miami misery translates into joy for the Texas Longhorns. Thanks to losses by the ‘Canes and Bulldogs on Saturday, the Horns move up two spots in the college football playoff rankings. Texas now sits No. 3 in the rankings and are in position to be a No. 2 seed in the bracket, which would give UT a first round bye.

Miami moved down to No. 9 in the rankings after losing 28-23 to Georgia Tech. But as the highest ranked ACC team, the Hurricanes would receive a first round bye and the No. 4 seed in the bracket.

Georgia’s 28-10 loss to Ole Miss moved Georgia down to No. 12 in the rankings and on the outside looking in for the bracket. Ole Miss moves up to No. 11 in the ranking and get a No. 11 seed after the win over the Bulldogs.

Oregon and Ohio State remained No. 1 and No. 2 respectively. The Ducks would get the No. 1 seed and a bye, while the Buckeyes are relegated down to the No. 5 seed and would play Boise State in the first round.

The SEC and the Big Ten each have four teams in the 12-team college football bracket. The Big 12 and ACC each have one. Boise State gets in as the fifth conference champion and join independent Notre Dame to fill out the 12 spots.
