The Milwaukee Brewers are intent on approaching the deadline with aggression, and they could be buying a new bat in the next 96 hours.

Milwaukee would add both pitching and hitting to their roster in a perfect world. General manager Matt Arnold sees the Brewers up six games in the National League Central entering Friday, but he’s not satisfied.

Lineup reinforcements are in order for Milwaukee, especially now that Christian Yelich is going to miss significant time.

For an injection of power, Arnold might give the Arizona Diamondbacks a call about first baseman Christian Walker, who also has Gold Gloves (2022, 2023).

Tim Britton and Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic listed the Brewers this week as one of the top three potential landing spots for Walker.

“Few players in the game have been as overlooked in the last few years as Christian Walker, who ranks fourth in WAR at first base dating to 2020,” Britton and Gleeman said. “He brings power at the plate and a slick glove at first. He’s a guy who can help deepen the middle of most any order from the right side. Like more than half the National League, the Diamondbacks currently straddle the buy/sell line.”

If the Diamondbacks do indeed decide to sell in the hours leading up to Tuesday night’s deadline, Arnold figures to be right in the mix in an attempt to bring Walker to Milwaukee.
