Former Colorado football quarterback Drew Carter isn’t giving up on his college basketball career just yet.

After spending last season hooping at UC Davis, Carter announced via Instagram on Friday his commitment to the Oregon Ducks men’s basketball program. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Oregon native will join head coach Dana Altman’s team as a walk-on guard, according to Ducks Digest.

At UC Davis this past winter, Carter saw 22 total minutes of action across nine games played. He finished the year with 11 total points, including six in UC Davis’ season opener against Jessup.

Carter spent two seasons with the Buffs as a backup QB, appearing in nine total games before entering the transfer portal in April 2023. Colorado men’s basketball head coach Tad Boyle welcomed Carter on as a walk-on during the 2021-22 session, although he never saw game action.
