New York Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres exited Friday night’s loss against the Boston Red Sox due to a groin injury.
Torres legged out an infield single with two outs to load the bases, but he was clearly in some pain. After the training staff looked at him briefly on the field, Torres came out of the game.
Manager Aaron Boon told reporters after the game that this was a re-aggravation of the injury Torres suffered weeks ago.
Boone also said the Yankees don’t believe it’s a long-term injury for Torres.

It will be interesting to see who the Yankees replace Torres with if an injured list stint is coming. They’ve been linked to several trade candidates such as Luis Rengifo, who is also on the injured list.
Oswaldo Cabrera has struggled since his magical start to the season wore off. They have Jorbit Vivas, a 23-year-old switch-hitter currently raking with an .838 OPS at Triple-A.
It’s been a rough season for Torres, who will be a free agent after the campaign is over, and now he could miss some time due to this groin injury.
