The New York Yankees completed a three-game sweep against the Minnesota Twins on Thursday afternoon largely in part due to the career outing from starter Clarke Schmidt.

Enjoying a strong start to the season, Schmidt continued his masterful pitching Thursday night. He’s been a stellar part of a starting rotation that is finding its groove without ace Gerrit Cole.

In the 5-0 win Thursday afternoon, Schmidt tossed 8.0 shutout innings, allowing just three hits and no walks while striking out eight. He generated 16 swings and misses of 103 pitches (69 strikes).

This career outing lowered Schmidt’s season ERA to 2.49.

The Yankees are riding a four-game winning streak and have won 10 of their last 12 games.
