The Minnesota Lynx were still seeking their first win of the 2007 season when they hosted the Indiana Fever for a contest at Target Center. With Seimone Augustus entering her second season, first-year head coach Don Zierden hoped to strengthen the back-court with the addition of first overall pick Lindsey Harding, who they obtained in a draft day trade.

Indiana was changing their fortune from struggling Eastern Conference participant to consistent playoff contender with Brian Winters at the helm. Tamika Catchings was a large reason for their recent success, and the Fever looked for post help through the acquisition of Tammy Sutton-Brown.
