Welcome back to Tennis Spot. Nick Kyrgios has responded to an unprovoked swipe from the mum of tennis rival Stefanos Tsitsipas. Julia Apostoli last week came from nowhere to say Kyrgios had played “dirty tennis” during their heated showdown at Wimbledon this year. The pair exchanged insults in their post-match press conferences. Tsitsipas called his rival a “bully” with an “evil side” to him while Kyrgios rejected the accusations and said the Greek star was “soft”. The Aussie star demanded Tsitsipas be defaulted for hitting a ball into the crowd. The bitter rivalry is now back making headlines after Apostoli’s claims Kyrgios “ignored the general rule of sports”. Kyrgios has now fired back with a cheeky barb, sharing a video clip of him executing a clean drop shot winner during the match against Tsitsipas.
Nick Kyrgios may be well known for his stellar sporting career but he is just as famous for his on-court meltdowns, something which the 27-year-old has no regrets over. During a recent question and answer session on social media, one fan queried whether Kyrgios feels any regret for his “behaviour on the court”. In typical Kyrgios fashion, the World No. 21 shot down any suggestion he should feel remorse for his recent outbursts while turning the questions around and asking whether people understand what it feels like to compete with “millions of dollars at stake”. “Making it entertaining? Not being in the box like the rest of you? Winning majority of the time? Being Top 20 in the world? Nah, I love it,” he replied. Check this video out and stay updated!
