In 2008, Roger Federer had the worst season of his career up to the US OPEN, He couldn’t defend his title in the Australian Open, Lost to Rafael Nadal in both Roland Garros and Wimbledon Finals and went to the final grand slam of the year with “ZERO” titles on hard courts for the first time in his career. A lot of people were saying that Federer is finished and it was time for Nadal to take over. This would’ve been the first time since 2003 that Roger Federer goes a full season without a grand slam title to his name.
