Guaranteeing a victory is one of the ballsiest things that an athlete can do. Especially in football—because it is such a crazy sport—with so many factors that go into whether a team takes home the ‘w.’
Which makes its all the more insane that players and coaches are willing to stake their reputation in the media—and with fans—by making guarantees before big games.
I mean, that is A LOT of unnecessary pressure to put on oneself—if you ask a guy like me.
That being said, I don’t expect this practice to go anywhere. For as long as there are uber competitive freaks running around the NFL—which spoiler alert, there will be—players will continue to make guarantees.
And we will continue to make fun of the people who have it blow up in their face.
