The last official PGA Tour event of the calendar year tees off Thursday at Sea Island Golf Club in Georgia, and the 2021 RSM Classic is likely to come down to the wire. Robert Streb won the event last year, beating Kevin Kisner on the second playoff hole. It was the third straight time, and the sixth time in 11 years, that the event was decided in a playoff. Streb is one of six former champions in the 2021 RSM Classic field.
Caesars Sportsbook lists Scottie Scheffler as the 12-1 favorite in its latest 2021 RSM Classic golf odds, with Webb Simpson (14-1) and Cameron Smith (16-1) close behind. Kisner, the 2016 champ, is at 33-1, while Streb is a 70-1 long shot. Can Simpson find the form that made him a major champion and a top-five player in the world? Or will Kisner join Streb as a two-time champion at Sea Island and make you a winner with your 2021 RSM Classic Fantasy golf picks? Before locking in your Fantasy golf lineups for the 2021 RSM Classic, be sure to check out the Fantasy golf projections and lineup advice from fantasy expert Riley Gates.
Gates is a writer for 247Sports and has covered a range of sports for nearly five years. He has followed golf closely for much longer and has a profound knowledge of the sport. He also knows what it takes to win, on the course and in fantasy sports.
At last week’s Houston Open, seven of his picks finished in the top 20, led by Scottie Scheffler, who tied for second.
“Until he starts trending downward, there is no reason to avoid Scheffler,” Gates told SportsLine before the 25-year-old went out and fired a second-round 62. He held the lead heading into the final day before Jason Kokrak stormed past with a 5-under 65 to win by two strokes.
Gates has been on a roll this season. The previous week at the World Wide Technology Championship in Mexico, five of Gates’ top six golfers finished in the top 15, including winner Viktor Hovland. And at the Zozo Championship, five of his 13 favored players finished in the top 10.
Now, Gates has locked in his top 20 golfers from the 2021 RSM Classic field. You can only see his fantasy golf picks and rankings at SportsLine.

Scheffler has been on fire, and Gates is banking on that to continue this week. Scheffler finished fourth in Mexico before tying for the runner-up spot last week. He is 40-under par over his past three tournaments, with scores of 64 and 62. He tied for fifth in his only appearance at Sea Island in 2020, and he fired a 63 during that run. He is sixth in par breakers (30.56 percent), 25th in greens in regulation (73.41 percent), and 12th in scoring average (69.723). Scheffler had eight top-10 finishes last season, including two majors, and Gates sees him trending upward.
On the other hand, the golf expert sees Simpson heading the other direction and is fading him this week. The 36-year-old was once the No. 4 player in the world ranking but is down to 25th. He has one top-25 finish since April, with three missed cuts since then. He missed the weekend in one of his three events this season, and his only top-25 was a T-14 at the CJ Cup. That was his most recent outing, so he could be putting it together, but Gates isn’t sold. Simpson’s scoring average is over 71 this season, so the expert has numerous other players he prefers this week.
