The Army Black Knights began the 2021 season with four straight victories before hitting a skid with three consecutive setbacks. They have bounced back nicely, however, posting another four-game winning streak during which they’ve outscored their opponents by a 148-57 margin. Army (8-3) looks to close out the regular season with another triumph as it collides with the Navy Midshipmen (3-8) for 122nd Army-Navy Game on Saturday. The Black Knights blanked Navy 15-0 last season for their fourth win in five matchups after losing 14 meetings in a row.

Kickoff from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET on CBS. The Black Knights are seven-point favorites in the latest Army vs. Navy odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the over-under for total points scored is 35. Why Army can cover

The Black Knights don’t have much of an aerial attack, but they’re among the best in the country at running the ball. Army ranks behind only Air Force (341.4) in rushing with an average of 301.2 yards per game after racking up 220 in its 31-16 victory at Liberty on Nov. 27. Four different players have gained more than 400 yards this season — including quarterbacks Christian Anderson and Tyhier Tyler, who are second and third on the team with 519 and 470, respectively.

Tyrell Robinson leads the Black Knights with 582 yards on the ground and also has been one of the top contributors to the passing game, as he ranks second with 268 yards on only nine receptions and is tied for the team lead with three touchdown catches. The sophomore (three) is one of a dozen players with a rushing TD for Army, which has registered a nation-leading total of 43 — one more than Air Force. Junior Jakobi Buchanan tops the Black Knights with 11 rushing scores, including three in the win at Liberty.

Why Navy can cover

The Midshipmen are no slouches on the ground, as they are seventh in the country with an average of 228.8 rushing yards per contest. Isaac Ruoss is the team’s top threat out of the backfield, ranking first with 608 yards and tying for the top spot with five rushing touchdowns. The senior played a major role in Navy’s 38-14 triumph at Temple on Nov. 27 as he ran for 66 yards and a pair of scores.

Navy entered the game against the Owls with only four touchdowns through the air over its first 10 games of 2021 but recorded half that amount in the victory. Chance Warren hauled in both TD passes, giving him a team-high three on the season. The senior fullback, who has gained 235 yards on 42 carries this year, has made all three of his scoring catches in his last two games.
