Six years ago today, Wayne Rooney pulled off one of the most sensational moments in MLS history, providing an assist from nearly the halfway line for Lucho Acosta’s game-winning goal in stoppage-time against Orlando City.

The game looked all but set to fizzle out as Orlando held on with just 10 men, but a late D.C. United corner resulted in utter chaos.

After tracking back to win the in his own half, Rooney fired a cross from a distance to pick out Lucho Acosta, who bagged the winner in style.

The winner sparked wild scenes inside of Audi Field after a moment that would be remembered in D.C. United lore for years to come.
