There’s a situation brewing in Oakland, California. It’s not a pretty one, either. The Oakland Athletics have reached the crossroads: As a team, with the fanbase, and with the city of Oakland. Rumors swirl all over the place regarding players being traded and new stadium locations, be it in Oakland or elsewhere.

A deep payroll cut is all but inevitable (barring a salary floor in the next CBA). Bob Melvin has fled the ship with ownership approval for a more promising managerial gig in San Diego. Billy Beane has been linked to leaving the organization for a few years. Tensions between the fanbase and ownership have reached a fever pitch, and nearly doubling ticket prices for 2022 didn’t do much to mend them.

This video may be merely predicting the inevitable, but it’s time we take a look at what the Oakland A’s are truly looking at for their short-term future. The spoiler is that most of it isn’t good.
