Framber Valdez has been nearly unhittable in his last three outings as he’s surrendered one run with 19 strikeouts over 22 innings. He’ll take the mound again Thursday night against the Toronto Blue Jays and daily Fantasy baseball players will take a long look at Valdez as a pitching option. But beyond just that, players will need to formulate their MLB DFS strategy around if they have enough confidence in Blue Jays hitters to produce against the 29-year-old left-handed pitcher.

There aren’t many options elsewhere in Thursday’s limited primetime MLB DFS picks. That makes forming MLB DFS lineups on days like Thursday even harder with an elite pitcher like Valdez on the hill. Justin Verlander, Spencer Strider and Zack Wheeler are also scheduled to start on a strong pitching day. What hitters can you trust when forming MLB DFS lineups on sites like DraftKings and FanDuel? Before submitting any MLB DFS picks for Thursday, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won more than $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.

On Tuesday, McClure highlighted Dodgers outfielder JD Martinez as one of his top DFS picks. The result: Martinez went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI, returning 16 points on DraftKings and 22.2 points on FanDuel. Anybody who included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, with the 2023 MLB season in full swing, McClure has locked in his top MLB daily Fantasy picks for Thursday, June 8. Head to SportsLine now to see them

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Thursday

One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Thursday is Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers ($5,200 on DraftKings and $3,600 on FanDuel). Devers went 2-for-4 with an RBI on Wednesday for his second multi-hit game in his last three contests. He is tied for third in baseball with 50 RBI after posting 27 home runs and 88 RBI last season.

The two-time All-Star has a career OPS of .894 against right-handed pitchers as the Guardians are scheduled to send RHP Aaron Civale to the mound on Thursday. Devers has been a little unlucky this year as some of his metrics would project better numbers than his stats show. He ranks 18th in baseball with a hard-hit rate of 41.5% against right-handers, yet he has a .239 batting average against righties, which ranks 149th. Devers is a career .280 hitter, and you’d have to think it’s just a matter of time until his results start to mirror his hard-hit rate and lifetime numbers.

McClure’s MLB DFS strategy includes rostering Astros outfielder Yordan Alvarez ($5,900 on DraftKings and $4,300 on FanDuel). After a pedestrian start to the season, Alvarez has looked the part of the player who finished third in American League MVP voting last season. Over his last 31 games, he’s posted a slash line of .282/.389/.636 and an OPS over 1.000.

Alvarez has also been discernibly better on the road, so he’ll look forward to Thursday’s game at Rogers Centre. Twelve of his 17 home runs this season have come on the road, despite him having fewer plate appearances in away games. Alvarez has also homered in two of his last three games, while the starting pitcher he’ll be facing in Jose Berrios has allowed an OPS 238 points higher to LHBs like Alvarez than right-handed batters. See who else to pick right here.

How to set your MLB DFS lineups for June 8, 2023

McClure is also targeting an undervalued player who is set to explode for huge numbers on Thursday. The stars are aligning for him to return tournament-winning value and he comes at a price that won’t break the bank. You can only see who it is here.
