After Mitchell Marsh was dismissed early, several batters got starts, and David Warner went on to make 52 but the visitors were eventually bowled out for 276. Mohammed Shami was the star turn with the ball, picking up 5/51.
In reply, India rode on a fantastic opening partnership of 142 off just 130 balls between Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad before half-centuries from captain KL Rahul (58*) and Suryakumar Yadav (50) helped India get over the line with 8 balls to spare.
