Nathan Sobey has his Olympic bronze medal back, the Brisbane talent thankful for its anonymous return almost two months after it was stolen from his home.

News of the theft spread far and wide when the Bullets guard took to social media in February asking for help to track down the Tokyo medal, the first won at a major international event by the Australian men’s team.

On Friday he posted an update, holding the bronze medal he said was in worse condition than he remembered.

“Look who made it back home,” he wrote.

“I just wanted to thank everyone for all their help in getting my medal back to me.

“I truly do believe that with everyone’s help it encouraged whoever took it to hand it back into someone who then got into contact with me.

“Unfortunately it’s not in the same state as it was when it was taken and … has been mistreated while it was in this person’s hands.

“But with all that being said, I’m still super happy that it is back where it belongs.”

It’s a welcome change of fortune for the speedy guard, who has been ruled out of the NBL season with a knee injury.
